I'm not sure but we just went to LAX to pick up the puppy, he's adorable but the ad said he was a Jack Russell Terrier. That's what we wanted and the dog looks just like a min pin.

We went to petsmart to get some stuff for him and even the employees couldn't believe it was a Jack Russell. We've been calling the people that sold the dog but they aren't answering nor calling us back.

I have such mixed feelings about this because I don't want to send the dog back but at the same time I feel that i've been taken advantage of and basically victimized.

Please give me any suggestions of what you think I should do. We also paid by money order... :-/

Wow that must have been shocking when you found out. I guess that's the beauty of purchasing dogs online. Can I ask how much you paid for him? He is sooo extremely cute, I can see how you fell in love with him, heck..ship him to me I'll have him lol.

I don't really know what to say as I've never ordered one online, I almost did once though. Does this puupy have a health guarantee? I'm sure some people in this forum will know how to deal with this, there's a lot of smart helpers here..

Again, he is sooooooooo adorable I could squeeze him!!

I'm not a breed expert but my guess would be mini pin also. Scroll down to lpn169 thread title mini pin pic and look at her pictures. I know they say never pay by M/O.

I would keep trying to call them if I were you. You are not being unreasonable. You wanted and though you were buying a JRT.

Terribly shocking rollercoaster ride of emotions really. We paid 150 for him plus 250 shipping. Health guarantee and paperwork is supposed to be coming via postal mail.
He is adorable isn't he. I just hate the fact that it feels tainted.

Well he certainly is adorable.

My guess is that if this Breeder is a scammer, you won't ever get through to her.

I would keep this dog and leave it be, IF when you go to the Vets for the check up, all is well. If anything is wrong with him (God forbid) then that is when I would make a bigger deal out of it, use the fact that it is a different dog as well.

Thats a shame this 'breeder' used a different picture. Geez.

He doesn't look like a JRT in the first picture either!

But he is beautiful. Looks like he doesn't want that collar on, it looks like he is trying to take it off with his feet! Too cute ;)

I'm just noticing in the 'jack russell' photo that the puppy is peeing on the carpet. As a breeder myself, I would not send or post a pic of a puppy for sale of it peeing on carpet. My guess is that they stole this photo from a joke email and sent it over to you instead of the puppy you received. Even though your puppy is still adorable! I agree, not thinking that the first photo is full jack either.

Actually, wondering if he is a min pin-seems a little big-or at least his structure to me. Not an expert on this breed, but just wanted to throw that out there. Still adorable!

we are pretty sure that we are keeping him, but I have no faith in any of the promises this lady has made. what's worse is my boyfriend hated the idea of paying by money order and had a bad feeling about this all along. It doesn't help that when I call a little girl answers the phone and then either hangs up or says that the person I need to get in touch with is not home.

Is there any level of protection either through this site or by other means? Let's say we take him to the vet and find out about something being terribly wrong.

Just found the ad you are referring to. They have a bulldog site listed and the pics don't look the same as the website. They look like very reputable bulldog breeders with gorgeous dogs. I wonder if someone took their site and their information and used the scammers email address and set up this ad. Did you actually talk to someone at the phone # listed on this ad prior to purchase or just email? And is their email the same as on their website??Their site is very impressive and if it is them, I would hope it was a mistake on the airlines part.

This might have happened~
This breeder shipped a few puppies from the litter on the same day. When a breeder ships puppies from the same litter, they hand the individual crates over to the Cargo assitants. MAYBE the airlines (like Shadow said) mixed up your pup with another from the litter they shipped the same day???
Their site does look nice. Maybe call them from a different #, like your cell phone and see if they answer. The #'s on the ad and site are the same, but on one of the pages of the site it says Contact 'Myra' and on the ad it says Lisa. But on the home page it says Lisa. Hm...

I called that number and a Daisy answered, Daisy gave me Lisa's number. Lisa is supposed to be the actual seller for this specific dog.

My bf did a whois search on their 2 domains and found some info so he felt a bit more at ease with the purchase, and yes the site looks fairly decent and pretty straight forward, not to criticize their design but it's not too difficult to slap something like that together especially for a scam.

I totally want to give them the benefit of a doubt but with no answer nor call back what am I left to think?

The possilbe cargo foul up makes total sense and she did mention she was shipping a few pups out to California.

We've called from 3 different numbers... unfortunately all from the same area code, so I'd make an assumption that once she sees 626 area code it's us calling.

How is he acting? Does he act like a happy, playful pup? Is he eating/drinking?
I'd be looking for these signs right now.
I'd take him to the Vet tomorrow for a check up as well (if you are going to keep him) just to be sure he is doing well.

the dog is fantastic.
he's so playful and fun.
he's eating well and drinking, pooped twice he is really a bundle of joy, we'll videotape him and post a clip up on youtube within the hour, hopefully.
it's a great thing either way but definately a rude surprise.

she's saying the dog is a jack russell but didn't get his tail cut after birth...
still the picture doesn't match.
oh well I'll keep you posted as the news arrives and thank you all very much!
if this was a full on scam we wouldn't have received a dog in the first place eh?

White should predominate (i.e., must be more than 51% white) with tan, black, or brown markings. Brindle markings are unacceptable. This was taken off this site.

The pup in the pic you got from the breeder looks more like a Rat Terrier than a JRT but it looks more like an excessively dark JRT than the pup you actually received. The black & tan pup you have does not look like a JRT at all. I've seen tricolor JRT's but none ever had downward-hanging ears like your pup. They all had ears that were a little bit erect and folded directly forward in little triangles. The ears on the tricolor pup in the breeder's pic are how JRT ears look but the rest is wrong. Your pup's legs are longer than a JRT too but the breeder could claim it is a Parson JRT. I sure hope it was an airport mixup. At least the breeder could take your calls and let you know for sure what breed you actually got. I hope you keep the pup anyway and enjoy many years with it. Too much moving isn't good for a dog-it needs to settle in. If it is a Rat Terrier and you wanted a JRT I'm sure you will enjoy the pup. They are both small, bundles of energy and very good at vermin control. JRTs are a bit more rugged.

I am wondering why they didn't put the papers with the crate when the puppy was shipped?
Both dogs I got shipped to me had an envelope taped to the top of the crate with all the paperwork in it that i needed. Nothing came seperate.
Guess it could just be how each individual breeder ships.

Sorry for the mishap and hopefully she will take your calls and at least answer your questions.

And lets pray that this puppy is not sick with anything and will have many happy, healthy years to come with you and your family.

it's def not a jack, but in all honesty it doesn't look like a purebred min pin either, unless it was very poorly bred. i think your "breeder" may be a little confused with the breed that she is advertising..

There's a very famous producer/emcee out of New York that is the leader of a group called Wu-Tang Clan. We love old school hip hop and just good music so this is somewhat of an ode to that era of pre 96 hip hop.

Tarentino also hired Rza to do the score for the Kill Bill movies.

I am so sorry you got scammed and I would be mad but he is one cute puppy. He looks like he lucked out and found him self at a great home. I would keep him just cause he is so cute and obviously ment to be with you. LOL-- He found his way from Texas to Cali.
I live in San Antonio about an hour away from Austin where he came from and I lived in Ausitn for 6 years. That kennel has a awesome reputation down here with there bulldogs and I cant believe they did you like that. The pup looks nothing like a JRT but like IPN said a Doxi mix. I would try and help you get ahold of them. The pups in the add do not look full JRT either. The one you were suppose to get reminds me of a Beagle/ Doxi mix. I think the guy you got is super cute.
That is a crazy situation and does not make it easier for other people to trust breeders who ship. Its a shame but it looks like it may be working out for the best.

I'm no expert, but my best friend has a JRT that looks EXACTLY like that.. and he's purebred. Her grandparents breed them. It's possible for them to have that coloring.

halosfire is right JRT can come in black and tan sometimes with a white spot on their chest, but this pups ears still lood more hound than JRT, but that could be bad breeding.

But the other concern is that you didn't get the pup you thought you bought, makes one wonder how many JRT(?) pups these people have though doesn't it?

This is why i like the Canadian law that unless it is regestered it is illegal to sell it as purebred.

I thought you said your pup is regestered, if I'm wrong I am sorry, with who is he regestered?

Hey. Sorry to hear about your loss. On the negative side of the situation, you were lied to and scammed. Especially if the breeders are not answering your calls and such. That is a shame. Because he looks like a Min Pin and not like a Jack Russell. He may be a mix but is looking like a Min Pin to me. I have 2 Min Pins.
However on the positive side of things, atleast you got a puppy. Some people don't even get pups and are completely scammed. I know that still sounds horrible but I hope you can see where I'm coming from. Also, Min Pins are GREAT! I LOVE THEM! and No you are not being unreasonable. You will come to a decision soon enough, and it will be the right one. Best wishes

^^^ Yea we talked about that last night, we actually got a puppy afterall! It could have been way worse and mark my words we would have had someone at their doorstep if we couldn't make that trip ourselves. So it's a bit of a catch 22 but with a wonderful upside. We love Rza. Another issue I had was our townhouse landlord allows small pups. This guy will stay rather small right? I have a feeling he's mixed...

I know this is not something anyone ever wants to hear - and I am sorry you got taken - BUT...

You pay for what you get. Usually those breeders who are only asking $100-300 for a puppy are trying to "move" merchandise. They are asking a low price because they want to seem "affordable" to people who don't know better, want a nice puppy, but don't think they should spend hundreds of dollars for one. If the shipping costs more than the puppy, odds are good you're not going to be happy with what you pick up at the airport in some way.

Then consider, that good breeders ask for their puppies what they put into a litter. For me, it costs me at LEAST $1000 to raise a litter of puppies by the time I get through dew claw removal, vaccinations, worming, vet checks, fecal panels, food, toys, cleaning supplies, vet care for the mother, long distance phone calls to prospective families, gas to and from the vet and airport, registrations... That's not even touching how much it costs me to care for the parents or the money I lose by taking time off of work to raise/care for the litter... If I asked $150 for the puppies I'd be essentially paying someone else to take my puppies I'd be losing that much money on the litter... That doesn't even touch on health testing, show expenses, ect... You sincerley have to wonder what corners a breeder is cutting that allow them to ask $150 for a puppy. What aren't they doing???

I totally sympathize with you because before I started breeding I made the exact same mistake. I paid $150 for a puppy from a breeder in Missouri. He told me she was a Sable & White (which would mean solid colored, two brown eyes). The pictures I got were not excellent. He also told me she was 3 months old. When she arrived at the airport she was a Sable Merle with a Blue eye, she was 4 1/2 months old, and she was very underweight and obviously had never seen the outside of the barn she was raised in... I learned very quickly that you pay for what you get.

Unfortunately, the average pet buyer doesn't understand why the average breeder asks what they do for their puppies... so too many people get taken just as you did. I agree the breeder is at fault... but I also feel that as the buyer you need to acknowledge that your choice in breeder was flawed - so that in the future you don't make the same mistake.

I'm one of those people that live for the truth and what life sets that forth.

My bf made a point about that, why in the world is shipping more than the "item" itself. I was a bit caught up in the moment...

Totally understood, getting what you pay for.

This is what makes the problem even morso difficult, we really don't know anything about the pup so it looks like we'll be footing some heavy bills taking him to the vet and basically starting from square one.

It's a shame people like this exist but capitalism is exactly that. Coming up on others misfortunes, lack of knowledge, etc.

Part of the reason I decided to post on here was to also educate others, through you wonderful owners/breeders/dog lovers, about how best to deal with a situation like this and also avoid it if/when possible.

Live with no regrets but learn from your mistakes.

Thank you all once again, I'll keep you guys updated.

I agree it is very odd for a breeder to send you a picture of the pup you are supposedly getting in which it is peeing on the floor.

That pic the breeder sent you is one of a few that they have pics of in their ad and the pup you got isn't one of the pics shown. I wonder how old the ad is or if there is any way to check when it was posted. Does this site have any way of limiting breeders who place that mislead people?

Rza: I just happened upon this site and saw your topic. I read every single response to your dilemma, and I couldn't believe how everyone was so considerate! Usually, you see folks condemning a person for making a mistake or not being absolutley sure about a purchase that they make online.
I myself purchased a Newfoundland online from a Breeder in Missouri about five years ago. I was lucky enough to receive the girl I was promised! The pictures of her pups look exactly like she did in her own puppy photo's, except for the landseers! I also checked references before making the actual purchase.
You have to go with your heart. Will you be happy with this little pup years down the road? Or will you always regret being scammed?
Have you taken the pup to your vet yet? In my puppy contracts, the owner must take the puppy they purchase to their own veterinarian within 72 hours. Even though a Health Certificate goes to the pup's new home, it's a good idea to be certain you're receiving a healthy addition to your family!
Who knows? Maybe "Fate" brought you two together. I wish you the best of luck and remember that every Breeder is not a scammer! Next time, be sure to really do your homework before buying online! Regards.

She was 2.2 lbs when we got her. She didnt know how to eat or drink out of a bowl. I suspect she was ripped away from her mother and plunked on the plane. We almost lost her....she was 10% dehydrated and had blood in her stool. 550.00 vet bill 24 hrs after we got her....the vet wrote her off for dead.

I got the idiots paypal account cancelled and was in contact with the USDA. Seems this character gets his puppies from Columbia. Then they go to Texas. Her "Health certificate" was all in spanish.

I still smile fondly when I think of her, as she was in the pic, sleeping on my neck...dreaming, and softly sighing. As a mom, I held each of my kids as they slept and I felt like a mom all over again. Stitch has given more back to me, than I feel I have given to her.

send a picture of the dog to the police in their town and tell them they scammed you. Get people involved immediately and don't let up. Call the news, newspapers, TV. Don't be taken advantage of. I think I'm thinking twice about my purchase. Thank you.

We took Rza to the vet today, he's a min pin/doxi.
Thats the official word.
We got him his shots and everything set for his vaccinations and check ups. I will put together some information and send to the local authorities in her jurisdiction.

Is it possible that there were 2 dogs travelling that day? Possibly a mix up... I'm grasping here. Even though your pup isn't a JRT... he's absolutely cuuuute!

Sometimes events happen in our lives without us having any control over them. It's these uncontrolled events that have crossed our path for reason. Perhaps the original puppy wouldn't have given you the joy that your present pup does.

Putting aside my flowery speech... You should by all means report this unorthodox business transaction. Perhaps if you do... you'll have the closure your looking for? :) Please keep us all in touch!

In your post, you stated that you sent a money order for him. That's not necessarily a bad thing. Did you mail the money order to the seller? If so, I would file a complaint with the Post Office for mail fraud. I threatened an ebay seller with this once, when I sent a money order and the merchandise did not arrive. It came within two days of my threatening to file a complaint for mail fraud. I believe it is a felony. It might be worth a try to leave her a message that unless she gets back to you within XX hours, you'll be filing a complaint.

They are from an exclusive italian bloodline that only a select handfull of people own.

We are not a zoo to visit for the day.

Our dogs are pets and live with us in our home.

By allowing just anyone to come over is endangering the health of our dogs, and the privacy and safety of our family.

People can bring in all types of disease and viruses on the soles of their shoes.

If you have investigated, researched & read our DIFFERENCE page and see a pup on the website you are interested in then i will be glad to show you our dogs.

I think your site is awful..it comes off cocky and arrogant, cutting down any other breeders other than yourself. As an owner of a bull terrier, we have a mentor in Michigan who has taught us so much and opens his doors to anyone who wants to learn. I think you are overpriced as well, and altho you praise an Italian bloodline, I found little history about it to warrant paying 4g for a puppy.

The part that upsets me most, other than your typo's, is the fact that you sell these supposed jack russell pups, and one is shown PEEING! (how professional is that!!??!!)

Fact is, someone I know got one of these pups and it wasn't a pure bred jack.

You're ethical, alright.

I believe you broke the law and committed fraud. As it was done to me, I have a soft spot for a fellow pet owner who gets scammed and I intend to pass on phone numbers (USDA and Texas humane society as you just so happen to be in the same are as my unscrupulous breeder) and my contacts to this dear lady and make sure that you will think twice before doing this again!

Breeders, you are going to read this and go off. Please don't. My opinion, and it's not up for discussion.

I believe:
Selling animals over the Internet should be illegal. There is too much room for cruelty and abuse.

Heck, I'm such a nazi, I believe nobody should be allowed to breed dogs and everyone should get a neutered/ spayed dog from the shelter.

On the bright side, Jack Russell Terriers are notoriously difficult to train. And, the dog you got has enough wag in his tail to be a wonderul little companion.

I called the number about the bulldogges and she was very polite and knowledgeable about her breed. She did not have much to say about the JRT except that all she did was place an add for a friend and her web site was used because it was placed in her name. I did not get very far or try and push the subject because she is not the owner of the JRT.
It sucks you were scammed but dont think it is going to close them down. They can get in trouble for internet fraud but SPCA will not do anything about you getting the wrong puppy since the puppy was healthy. If you got a sickly pup then you would have a better chance.
I feel for you and wish all people were honest but the truth is they are not. If you are buying an unregistered pup for less than the shipping price then it does kinda go by the rule "you get what you pay for". I in no way agree with what they did and think it is horrible but I think your attitude at the beginning of the post was headed in a better direction (at least you got a pup). With that affordable of a puppy and not checking references and not being a little weary that the web site had nothing to do with JRT's then that should have sent several red flags. I think in this case be glad you got a beautiful, healthey and happy puppy. I would not put as much effort into shutting this place down for I do not think its a puppy mill rather than a individual breeding.
You are in fact happy with your puppy and if you want a refund then be expected to return the puppy. I do not think you want to return him and dont think you will get your money back and keep the pup. Its a big waste of time. I would just tell them what you think and call it what it is "a crapy situation but you didnt lose totally". If you want to shut down all the adds that are scammers on this website then most of TP adds would be removed. I would never actually buy a pup from this site because it is 80% scammers that sell and try to buy from the adds.
Again I am truely sorry for your bad experience and hope all turns out well. Keep us posted on that beautiful pup and his videos.

I don't know if it has been meationed but, on the bully site they go on about how they don't allow buyers to breed the dogs.
But on the pups for sale there are 3 different people you have to call if you want to buy one.

If you are trying to do something about this you need to find more information on the actual owner of the JRT's. The Mybullz lady does not own or ship them and your efforts will be useless. I do not think you are going to get very far and if you have no way of contacting the actual owner of the pup you bought then - why did you buy the pup if you did not talk to the owner?

What a shame.

You raised several points and you are right in practically all of them.

My bf knows the internet all to well, (IT) I on the other hand fell in love with what I saw and he did a bit of investigating and brought up the same concerns but, he knows how bad I wanted the pup and he decided to concede.

My main problem lays in the scenario and when I got the pup my calls weren't answered and if they were it was a little girl on the phone saying the person I was trying to get in touch with wasn't there and then me calling back 30 minutes later getting straight to the voicemail. I wanted to know why things were the way they were, that is all.

This isn't even really about the money we are quite financially stable and of course morso about principal. We did not know what kind of dog and we weren't being told. It was so embarrassing going to Petsmart and being asked what kind of dog it is, and when we tell them they look at us like, "are you sure?"

As long as Rza's tests come back nominal we don't have much of an issue but the way these people are handling this is utterly disgusting, and that is what I'd like to see change. They are making a terrible name for this industry.

Mybullz seems to be Daisy's operation.
That phone number on the ad is Daisy's.
But it says contact Lisa.
Lisa is the alleged owner.
Daisy gave me Lisa's number.
I contact Lisa.
She makes the arrangements for the pup.
Daisy and Lisa and a few others as you will see on their site basically all work together.
Not one in the same but it seems to be Daisy, Lisa, Myra's operation.
On the Mybullz site they post whatever bullies they are selling.
I posted a comment on her page about being scammed and that was what has triggered some response via telephone. FINALLY!

This all came about by me just wanting to know what kind of dog I actually got and what had been done and what feed he was getting. That's all I wanted to know. Then it turned into this saga because of their lack of professionalism, maturity, and disrespect.

RZA I agree totally that they are handling it very unprofessionally. I do see the principal behind it but I am not one to keep on trying to fuel the fire. I strongly believe "what goes around comes around". They will eventually get what they deserve and being dishonest like that will catch up with them. If they cant be honest enough to at least say well that is the pup we sent and that is what you are getting then it shows what kind of people they are. I would just focus on your new beautiful baby and be glad you didnt get one that looked like the poor little baby traummamamma got.

If not then you need to and regardless I am reporting this to the proper authorities.

I have made a significant effort in contacting this lady and this was the only way to get my questions answered.
No, I don't know what I was doing.
Yes, I made mistakes with this transaction.
I'm sure other people have or are about to.

I think this has been allowed to go on simply for the fact that my intentions are not ill but to actually educate others, make others aware of potential frauds, and most of all raise awareness to something that seems to be getting ignored.

How would you feel if you purchased something that was misadvertised? This isn't a car but an actual live animal and we aren't cold hearted to just send him back. It's not fair to our pup, and we love him, but I don't want anyone else to go through this.

this IS breeder bashing. and it IS against the forum rules. the last time this type of thing came up, was about a certain dane breeder. it escalated into a big arguement and admin came on to warn everyone to cease and desist.
sorry to hear when anyone is ripped off. but there are other avenues of taking care of it , such as ripoff.com and some others. venting about it here only seems to result in arguing and doesnt do a thing to stop the person with the bad breeding practices. there is nothing anyone here can do about it anyway. and no one wants to see all the arguing again.

Fueling the fire heh heh heh. I like that. What made me upset today was the threatening email response to trauma. Honestly that set me off.

Yes things could be oh so worse, thankfully they aren't and I hope I'm not coming across as ungrateful. At the same time these things happen in different magnitudes, lucky for me this was a minor earthquake where as trauma really did get the big one, excuse the pun ;)

But in all reality being a positive member of society means you contribute. I feel obligated to do something more, we are about being proactive. I'm glad that some people that posted here in the thread stated that they will be more careful when purchasing pups online and thats a big part of the major goal.

They are VERY aware of what they are doing, and they know it's wrong.

My bf told me once, "Fight the good fight, without the fighting."
and that's what we intend to do.

what some of you fail to understand is members on this forum have helped me contact these people and they themselves are being attacked by the same parties that sold me the puppy!

What is the point of your moderators?
They report if someone is breeder bashing but they don't forward the content of discourse?
They should be advising and not wait so long to refer me to an effective solution.

Others have mentioned that there are alot of false ad's here. You say not, I hope you are correct. This was my first visit to this site and look what happened.

In addition, is this a user based forum or a forum where you censor people based on things you don't want to hear and anything that can result in negative publicity of your site.

I will remove the edit buttons which may fall under copyright constrictions per se, but this situation directly involves your site, the breeder and me, and this is all factual information and we all know this also happens to fall under public domain, "Public Forum". I am perfectly within my legal rights. Deleting the post is not going to silence what happened.

I'm assuiming you will and I will praise your company but what is disturbing is it fell on deaf ears for a few days.
